From the December 2007 Tikvah Topics:
by Emily Kreindler

Emily Kreindler • On November 9, First and Third Grade Religious School families, along with other congregants, shared a traditional Family Shabbat dinner at Beth Tikvah. We had an amazing turnout of 151 people. It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying Shabbat with other families within Beth Tikvah, and we hope to see you at the next dinner. Due to overwhelming requests for my mother-inlaw’s Spinach Kugel recipe, it has been posted on the Beth Tikvah website. Please feel free to make it for your family. A special thank you to my husband, Brian, for helping me cook all the delicious food and making sure it all got to the temple on time. Also, thank you to my son, Spencer, for setting the tables and making sure every table had Shabbat candles. It was nice to see the third grade families bring their own Shabbat candlesticks. I think this will be a new tradition that we will continue with other family dinners.

• Without the help of volunteers these dinners would not be possible. Thank you to the following individuals and families for helping prepare and clean up: Bill Rabinowitz, Cheri Fogel, David Binkovitz, Mayerson Family, Shapiro Family, Karen Elson, Joanne Notowidigdo, Deb Arenstein, Blank-Mallory Family, Marc Leder, Steve Gluck, and Victoria Buford. Custodians Dell Parrot and Gene Hughes – thanks for all your hard work!

• Due to the success of this Family Shabbat Dinner many are asking when the next one will be! Mark you calendars for the 5th Night, 5th Light Hanukkah Dinner on Saturday, December 8!! Reservations are required by December 1. There is a registration form in the November Tikvah Topics, or visit our website: www.bethtikvahcolumbus.org for reservation information and forms.

Our dinners are becoming increasingly popular, and due to space restrictions and food portions it is imperative that everyone RSVP. Our food is prepared ahead of time based on the number of reservations that we have, so we ask that you please respond by the requested date for future dinners. Put your e-mail address on your reservation form and I will send a confirmation once I have received your paid RSVP.

We are also in need of more volunteers to assist with our dinners. If you can help prepare food, either with me or in your own kitchen, please let me know. Another important area for help is to set tables and, as always, clean up. Please contact me at 406-6065 or emilykreindler@yahoo.com if you can help. See you at the Hanukkah dinner!
