Beit Tefillah – House of Worship
Congregation Beth Tikvah embodies the traditions and vitality of the Reform Movement as it strives to meet the spiritual needs of today's modern Jew. Our Rabbi leads the congregation in fulfilling our spiritual mission. Our worship services vary throughout the year to accommodate the needs of our congregants. We welcome congregants of all ages to participate in performing Mitzvot by supporting our congregation with religious, social action, educational, and social activities.
Beth Tikvah is affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) and uses the prayer books, Mishkah T’filah, which contains instructions and commentary to meet the needs of all congregants. Services are led in a combination of Hebrew and English.
Weekly Shabbat Services
Every Friday evening Shabbat Services are held at Beth Tikvah. Times vary depending on special services, such as, Family Participation or Tot Shabbat. Following services a sweet Oneg Shabbat, sponsored by members, offers an opportunity to enjoy light refreshment and socialize with other congregants.
In addition, congregational Shabbat dinners are held throughout the year as a way to allow individuals and families the opportunity to share in the celebration of Shabbat with the Beth Tikvah community. Check the calendar for weekly service times and special events.
Shironim - Choir
At our synagogue, music plays an important part of in our worship. Our choir, the Shironim, is made up of congregants and directed by Music Director, Richard Blocher. Their voices add atmosphere and beauty to many of our services as well as High Holy Days and set the appropriate tone for observance and contemplation in our sanctuary.
Tikvah Tots
Our youngest congregants are introduced to the festive nature of Shabbat at this special service where story telling, singing and child participation are the focus. This short service is geared to children under 5 years of age. Tikvah Tots and the sweet Oneg that follows are held on selected Friday evenings prior to Shabbat Services. Saturday Morning Services
Shabbat morning services are held on dates designated for our B’nei Mitzvah students and are open the congregation. Shabbat services begin at 10:30 AM and are led by both the Rabbi and B’nei Mitzvah. Check the calendar for upcoming service dates.
Torah Study
Torah Study Group meets weekly in the library to read and discuss the Torah portion of the week as well as other portions of the Hebrew Bible. These are discussion sessions, not lectures, and all members of the congregation and community are encouraged to attend and participate. No Hebrew knowledge or prior study of the Torah is necessary.
